11 Mar 2006 | this year’s festival contains 185 films from around the world and an equally interesting and rich program of parallel events.
The opening film –a documentary told as a fairytale- promises to thrill the audience: a story about courage and persistence and at the same a social-political statement. The film follows an artist/pilot on her 6.000 kilometres journey to Kabul, as she decides to defy the military authorities of various countries in order to meet a young Afghani woman who dreams of becoming a pilot.
The 8th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival will be set off by its director, Dimitri Eipides and the director of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, Despina Mouzaki with the attendance of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Culture, Christos Zahopoulos as well as the Deputy Mayor of Culture, Vasilis Gakis representing the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Vasilis Papageorgopoulos.
